The innovative product, which is also first in the industry from CEAT, enhances customer safety as it gives an indication to the user when it’s time to change tyres.

Ceat Color Tread Wear Indicator Tyres

A yellow strip is embedded within the tread portion of the tyre, which is not visible in a new tyre. Over time, as the tyre wears off, this yellow strip starts appearing, indicating that it’s time to change the tyre.

The uniqueness of this innovation is that it makes it obvious that the tyre has reached the end of its life, and needs replacement, thus reducing potential accidents caused due to the absence of tyre grip.

These purpose-built units of the Toyota Innova Crysta will be handed over to the MLAs, MPs and a few government hospitals in Gujarat to help political parties as well as medical centres in the fight against the pandemic. Based on the G Plus trim, the customized MPVs are being sold at INR 24.50 lakh. However, the dealership is providing a subsidy to the buyers by bearing cost up to INR 4.5 lakh per unit. The rest of the amount can be a donation by either the politicians or an individual who might want to sponsor it.

The Toyota Innova Crysta Ambulance package is basically a dealership-level modification that packs in an oxygen cylinder, stretcher and other basic medical aids that are required while transporting patients to hospitals. As the Crysta is a spacious vehicle, its third-row and half of the middle-row have been removed to accommodate the foldable stretcher and other medical equipment. Also, the floor has seen some revisions to help one easily mount a stretcher. There's even been an inclusion of a side-facing bench seat for the paramedics. A plastic sheet separates the medical compartment from the front row.

Outside, the Toyota Innova Crysta Ambulance bears a handful of minor modifications that are typically found on ambulance vans.   Other than the handful of decals to announce the special status of the MPV, there's even a siren and flashers mounted on the roof.   The customizations sported by this MPV are similar to those seen on the MG Hector Ambulances that were donated by the carmaker last year.

Basically a dealership-level modification, this Toyota Innova Crysta Ambulance is being sold at subsidised rates.

It is worth a mention here that around a year ago, Toyota Indonesia donated Innova-based Ambulances to the Indonesian Red Cross and the Ministry of Health to aid in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. It is, however, for the first time that similar ambulances based on the updated MPV have been prepared.

Then, it was being speculated that the facelifted MPV will arrive in our country next year. Now, however, based on the latest reports, the 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta India launch will happen sooner than expected.

Based on the latest reports, the 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta India launch will happen sooner than expected.

While an exact date for the 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta India launch is not known at the moment, it is being said that the new car is likely to break cover in the local market this month. In fact, some dealerships have also started accepting pre-bookings for the refreshed MPV.

The new Innova Crysta has received several cosmetic updates such as a larger front grille, chrome work for the headlamps, new LED DRLs, revised front bumper with tweaked fog lamps and blacked-out chin section with a faux silver skid plate. Toyota has also included a set of 16-in silver alloy wheels which are available in a diamond-cut finish on select trims. A prominent black hexagonal section that has been placed between the taillights and extends as far down as the licence plate area is the addition at the rear of the 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta.

The interior of the Toyota Innova Crysta facelift gets a new instrument cluster design and an all-black cabin theme. For the seating arrangement, there is a 6-seat layout with captain chairs in the middle. Toyota is expected to offer a 7-seat version as well.

While the new Innova Crysta would get a new engine option for the overseas market, it is unlikely for the company to provide the same for its Indian customers because Toyota updated the Innova Crysta models to meet the BS6 emission regulations only a few months ago. So we will continue to get the 2.4L diesel mill that is capable of producing 150 hp and a 2.7L petrol motor which churns out 166 hp. For the transmission, there would be a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter on offer.

For the new model, Toyota has incorporated numerous cosmetic changes, especially at the front.

What’s new?

Exterior

The overall silhouette of the 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta facelift remains identical to that of the current-gen model. However, the company has given numerous cosmetic updates, especially at the front, to make the new MPV that much more desirable.

The new Innova Crysta flaunts a slightly larger front grille with noticeable chrome highlights. Toyota has also included the chrome work for the headlamps. We also have a set of new LED DRLs. For enhanced sportiness, the front bumper features a blacked-out chin section with a faux silver skid plate. Toyota has also redesigned the front fog lamps.

The updated Innova Crysta will come equipped with new 16-inch alloy wheels that are finished in silver. They will also available in a diamond-cut finish on select trims. The rear end of the 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta facelift remains more or less unchanged. However, there is a prominent black hexagonal section that has been placed between the taillights and extends as far down as the licence plate area.

Interior

Toyota has not altered the interior of the 2021 Innova Crysta facelift quite much. We do see a new instrument cluster design. An all-black theme has been used for the cabin. For the seating arrangement, there is a 6-seat layout with captain chairs in the middle. Toyota is expected to offer a 7-seat version as well.

Engine

It is being speculated that for the 2021 Innova Crysta facelift, Toyota is likely to continue using the current set of engine options. So, there would be a 2.4L diesel mill with 150 hp on tap and a 2.7L petrol motor with 166 hp. For the transmission, there would be a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter on offer.

Toyota Innova Crysta CNG Spotted Testing, Launch Most Likely This Diwali https://indianautosblog.com/toyota-innova-crysta-cng-launch-india-p321404 Mon, 17 Aug 2020 10:30:53 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=321404 With fuel prices frequently reaching sky high, customers are speculated to show a shift towards alternate source of power like battery powered cars or other affordable options like CNG powertrains. While CNG fuel has primarily been limited to smaller cars or commercial vehicles, Toyota is planning something unique for the Indian market. Toyota, the Japanese carmaker seems to be close to launching the CNG variant of the glorified MPV, Innova Crysta.

Toyota Innova Crysta Cng Spy Shot Front Lt
The CNG version of the Innova Crysta is expected to be based on the variant with the 2.7-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

In its current BS-VI avatar the car starts at INR 15.66 lakh* for petrol variants and INR 16.44 lakh* for the diesel variants. The CNG variants are expected to be placed below the petrol powertrain with less features and focus on fuel efficiency. The bi-fuel CNG variant was recently spotted while testing.

The car, which was spotted on National Highway 8 around Gurugram in Haryana, resembled the outgoing version. The car spotted was the lower-spec GX trim, evident from missing features like LED projector headlamps, fog lamps, chrome door handles, chrome window line, chrome inserts on the radiator grille, and the 17-inch alloy wheels that come standard on the top-spec trim.

Speaking of the powertrain, the car is expected to be based on the variant with the 2.7-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. It delivers a peak power output of 166 PS and 245 Nm of max torque. Transmission options on the petrol version come in the form of either a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed AT.

The CNG version of the Innova Crysta is most likely to go on sale by Diwali this year.

As the CNG powertrain is expected to be on the lower variants, it is least likely to have the AT option. At the moment, the car currently rivals the Mahindra Marazzo in the domestic market, which will soon be making its way into the showrooms with a BS-VI engine. The CNG version of the Innova Crysta is most likely to go on sale by Diwali this year.

Here’s how the Toyota Innova new model may look like.

Toyota Innova new model 2021 Kijang
The rendered 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta borrows cues from the 2021 Toyota Sienna among other latest global Toyota models.

The Toyota Innova Crysta, also known as Toyota Kijang Innova and Toyota Innova internationally, was introduced in November 2015. The second-gen Toyota Innova will become five years old in November this year. The Innova new model is likely arrive at the end of this year, and we reckon Indonesia will be the first market to see the refreshed MPV in showrooms. The launch of the new Toyota Innova Crysta facelift in India will likely take place in mid-2021.

The rendered Toyota Innova new model borrows cues from the 2021 Toyota Sienna among other latest global Toyota models. It has an entirely new front fascia. There’s a new hood with a dip in the centre. The new headlamps have a curvy design and are all-LED units. Also new is a split grille layout, with a really small upper grille and a large lower grille. The reduced usage of chrome is meant for a more understated look. Also new are the bumper and fog lamp housing. Like the headlamp, the fog lamp is an LED unit. Overall, the new front fascia is more expressive and more upmarket.

toyota innova 2021 Toyota 1GD-FTV diesel engine
The 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine that is no longer offered in the Toyota Innova Crysta in India should get an upgrade to be more eco-friendly and generate more power and torque.

On the sides, the 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta will feature new alloy wheels. Changes at its rear will likely include new tail lamps and a new bumper. The new model should come with more comfort and convenience features like a kick-activated tailgate, wireless charger and a 360-degree camera. We expect a new touchscreen infotainment system as well. Some markets may benefit from additional safety features like Pre-Collision System, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning. India presumably won’t be one of them.

As for the changes to the engines of the Toyota Innova new model 2021 with the mid-cycle refresh, the 2GD-FTV 2.4-litre diesel and 2TR-FE 2.7-litre petrol engines should remain as they are. The 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine that is no longer offered in India should get an upgrade to be more eco-friendly and generate more power and torque. Currently, it produces 174 PS of maximum power and 360 Nm of maximum torque in the MPV. It is worth noting that customers in other markets can buy the MPV with the 1TR-FE 2.0-litre petrol engine as well.
