The Mahindra Scorpio Classic price has been set at Rs 11.99 lakh for the S model and Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the S11 model. The company has said in a press release that these are the introductory prices. Hence, expect them to go up in the future.

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic is powered by an all-aluminium lightweight GEN-2 mHawk engine that makes 132 PS of max power and 300 Nm of peak torque. To further refine the driving experience, a new six-speed cable shift has been introduced in the manual transmission. The suspension set-up has been enhanced with MTV-CL technology to deliver superior ride and handling.

The new SUV is available in 5 colours - Red Rage, Napoli Black, Dsat Silver, Pearl White and a newly introduced Galaxy Grey.

Mahindra has announced that within the first 60 seconds of the commencement of the Scorpio N bookings, more than 25,000 people made reservations for the SUV.

The booking website handled the huge rush of orders well, but there was a brief glitch with the payment gateway provider. Mahindra would like to assure the customers that their time stamp prior to payment is duly recorded on the booking platform, so each customer will have their rightful place in the order sequence and accordingly the first 25,000 will be considered for introductory prices based on this sequence.

The deliveries of the All-New Scorpio-N will begin September 26, 2022, onwards. Over 20,000 units of the SUV are planned for delivery by December 2022 wherein Z8L variant will be prioritized. Mahindra will inform the customers about their delivery date by the end of August 2022.

As a part of its customer-centric approach, Mahindra is offering the industry's first option of the Booking Amendment Window for discerning customers who would like to evaluate their variant and choice of color post booking.

Customers can edit the variant and choice of color booked until August 15 midnight. In this scenario, the variant selected by August 15 will be considered the final booking without affecting the benefit of introductory pricing for the first 25,000 bookings.

The ‘Add to cart’ feature for the Scorpio-N has been available online and at dealerships since July 5, 2022. The Add to Cart feature helps customers save their desired variant configuration, including fuel type, seating capacity, color, and dealer preference, facilitating an immediate booking option upon booking commencement to avail the benefit of introductory pricing by making it to the first 25000 bookings.

Mahindra has announced the brand name of its much-awaited SUV, bearing the project codename Z101, as the All-New ‘Scorpio-N’. It is slated to arrive on 27th June 2022. The current Scorpio which has evolved over the last two decades as an iconic and cult brand will continue as the ‘Scorpio Classic’.

Mahindra says that the All-New Scorpio-N will have been engineered ground-up to meet the aspirations of the young and tech-savvy customers looking for a full-size authentic SUV. Tough yet sophisticated, it will be a head-turner with a bold and imposing design and commanding driving position.

The new Scorpio will boast premium interiors and will come loaded with a host of advanced modern features and the latest technology. It will have both petrol and diesel engines, with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. In keeping with its adventure capabilities, it will be offered with a 4x4 option.

The new Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted undergoing road testing several times in the past. However, perhaps, this is the first time when the revised taillights of the upcoming SUV have been caught on camera. We can see in the latest spy shots that the new Scorpio would have a pair of newly designed taillights that appear to be somewhat bigger than those of the current model.

Other than this, the SUV will also be offered with a petrol and diesel engine. It will get a 2.2-litre diesel mill, which puts out power and torque outputs of 153bhp and 360 Nm. On the other hand, the SUV will also get propelled by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that shreds out 188bhp of peak power and 380 Nm of twisting force.

This power plant was showcased by Mahindra last year at the Auto Expo 2020 and is also offered with the second-gen Thar. Both engines will be offered with a manual or an automatic gearbox option. The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will underpin a new platform and is expected to be more spacious compared to the outgoing XUV500. On the feature front, it will get a TFT instrument cluster and a wide touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It will also get several advanced features like blind-spot detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and so on. Here we have an example of a 2015 Mahindra Scorpio with a four-wheel drive and automatic gearbox configuration that has been pristinely maintained by its owner. In six years of owning this vehicle, the owner has clocked more than 1,32,000 kms in his SUV and he thoroughly seems to love it. He particularly seems to be fan of the Scorpio's off-road capabilities as he has experienced it first hand while taking the SUV for trips to the mountains. The fact that its equipped with an automatic gearbox makes it that much easier to live with as it also comes handy in tricky driving conditions.

Like any true SUV, the four-wheel drive system on the Scorpio comes with three modes - 2H, 4H and 4L. Although the Scorpio is mostly used as a people's mover in India, you'd be surprised to know its capable of handling the rough stuff quite well. The automatic gearbox even comes with a winter mode which selects a higher gear in snowy or wet conditions to prevent the wheels from slipping. The owner notes that the Scorpio returns an average fuel economy of 17-18 kmpl, which is pretty good for a diesel automatic SUV. As for maintenance of the SUV, a regular servicing of the Scorpio costs about INR 12-13K.

This is the S10 trim of the Scorpio, the then top-spec model of the SUV when it was first launched. Mahindra has now discontinued the S10 trim, with a new S11 trim now being the top-spec model. On the inside, this Scorpio comes with captain seats for the middle row and a bench seat for the third row, making it a genuine seven-seater. For an SUV from 2015, it even comes well equipped with features such as reversing camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, in built-navigation and much more. The only complain the owner has with the Scorpio is its built quality and fit and finish levels. Like most older Mahindra vehicles, the Scorpio tends to rattle when pushed hard.

Mahindra is expected to bring back the four-wheel drive system and automatic gearbox with the next-generation Scorpio. That's because it will be underpinned by an updated version of the ladder-frame chassis from the all-new Thar. The platform can thus definitely support a four-wheel drive system. Previously, we had also come across spy images of the vehicle being tested in high altitude regions of Manali, further solidifying our belief that a 4x4 system is definitely on the cards for the 2021 Scorpio. When the next-gen Scorpio hits showrooms later this year in between October to December, its prices are likely to start from INR 13 lakh and go up to INR 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Previously, we had also come across spy images of the vehicle being tested in high altitude regions of Manali, further solidifying our belief that a 4x4 system is definitely on the cards for the 2021 Scorpio. The Scorpio's similarities with the Thar will not just be limited to the platform. The upcoming SUV will also be sharing its engine options with the Thar. That means it will be powered by the 152hp 2.0L turbo-petrol engine and the 132hp 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. These engines could, however, come in a different state of tune than what is available with the Thar. Transmission options will likely include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

We all know how accomplished an off-roader the new Mahindra Thar is, and with similar underpinnings, the upcoming Scorpio could combine those rugged capabilities with the practicality of seven-seats. The 4x4 drivetrain, if at all, will be reserved for the top-spec variants. The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be much larger than the outgoing model. Here's a review of the Mahindra Pikup by an automotive journalist in Australia. As it turns out, people in Australia are actually pretty fond of this homegrown SUV. The reviewer even addresses the Pikup as an industrial-spec SUV, although not in a negative way. The fact that Mahindra is originally a tractor-manufacturing company, the Pikup is seen tracing back its roots to Mahindra's tractors by the reviewer. It is underpinned by a robust, steel ladder-frame chassis with leaf springs for the rear suspension, all in the name of superior off-road ability and to be used as a genuine workhorse.

Heck, the Mahindra Pickup even comes equipped with an automatic locking differential in Australia. As far as the engine is concerned, the Pikup is powered by the same 2.2L mHawk diesel engine in Australia as the Scorpio is in India. The reviewer notes that the Pikup's engine is derived from the same block as a Mahindra tractor and with dual chains to drive the camshafts, this engine has an industrial-grade lifespan. He also praises the Mahindra Pikup for being built completely out of steel, which gives it a tough and robust character. He particularly seems to like the clanking of doors when they are shut, thanks to being built out of steel.

Throughout this video, we can see the Mahindra Pikup doing some pretty serious off-roading and it seems to be doing that with quite some ease. What's really impressive about the Pikup is that nothing rattles, nothing thuds, even when abused harshly over difficult terrain. It is that well put together. He is also really impressed by the soft, gentle torque delivery of the engine, and referencing back to the tractor heritage, which can really be handy when off-roading. The fact of the matter is that references to Mahindra's tractor heritage should not be viewed negatively. These Australians really seem to enjoy that utilitarian approach.

We must also admit that the Scorpio looks pretty butch and handsome in this pickup avatar. The heavy black cladding, pronounced wheel arches, the snorkel and heavy-duty front bumper all add to its back-to-basics approach. The interior of the Pikup is similar to the India-spec Scorpio and the reviewer is particularly impressed by the space and practicality it has to offer. The bed at the rear has a payload of up to 1 tonne. That's essentially the story of the Mahindra Pikup - a practical, built-to-last, no-nonsense pickup truck that will get all your job done. We now wish Mahindra offered the Scorpio in a similar spec here in India.

All-New Mahindra Scorpio

The Scorpio comes from a house that is known around the world for its expertise in high-hauling body types and the SUV has been in India for 2 decades now. One of the biggest changes in the new Mahindra Scorpio 2021 will be in terms of mechanicals. The new Scorpio will come with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol model will use an all-new 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged motor, while the diesel version will get an updated, more powerful 2.2-litre mHawk unit. The petrol engine will be rated at 150bhp and 320Nm of torque. The power and torque figures of the updated oil burner could be higher than the existing unit that makes 130bhp and 320Nm.

Spy pictures of the car suggest that the car will feature a 5-slot grille, new headlamps with LED DRLs, a longer bonnet and a revised bumper with wide air intakes. The new-generation model will have a longer wheelbase, with an extended C-pillar. Unlike the test mule that was spotted with steel wheels, the production version (higher trims) will come with alloy units. The rear section might be revised with LED taillights and a larger tailgate with easy ingress and egress.

Hyundai Alcazar

Hyundai is all set to launch the Alcazar in April. The three-row SUV could be priced between INR 12 lakh and INR 18 lakh* and will be available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations. In the domestic market, the car will go up against the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV500, and Tata Safari. The Alcazar sits above Creta in the product lineup and borrows most of the features and design from the same. The Alcazar will be equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and wireless charging.

At its heart, the Hyundai Alzacar will come with two engines: 2.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel units. The petrol engine is the same one that powers the Elantra and Tucson but in a slightly higher state of tune to produce 159 PS and 191 Nm while the diesel engine is the same as the Creta’s with 115 PS and 250 Nm. Both engines will be available with the option of 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. It also comes with three drive modes: Eco, City And Sport.

Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra recently unveiled the brand name of its upcoming SUV, built on the W601 platform, as the XUV700 (pronounced as XUV, 7 double ‘Oh’). The car is expected to replace the XUV500 and will be placed below the Alturas G4. Mahindra says that the XUV700 will also come with world-class safety features. The Mahindra XUV700, which is slated to be launched in Q2 FY2022, will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing facility at Chakan in Maharashtra.

Prices for the current-gen XUV500 starts from INR 13.16 lakh and goes up to INR 18.88 lakh* and we expect the 700 to be priced slightly higher than that. There is a chance that the SUV will borrow its powertrain options from the XUV500 which means, you can expect a BS6-compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine that continues to put out 155 PS and 360 Nm. The SUV gets the option of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. It will offer optional All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) capabilities.

Mahindra Bolero Neo

After the discontinuation of the TUV300 last year, Mahindra is now planning to launch the BS6-compliant version of the TUV300 this year, but with updated styling and a new name – Bolero Neo. The Bolero is a go-to model for a rural buyer looking for a rugged, multi-seater SUV/ MPV. The Bolero NEO will aim to tap a more premium buyer in the rural market and also entry-level urban buyers looking for a better product than Bolero in terms of features and design.

The upcoming Mahindra Bolero Neo (TUV300 facelift) will likely be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine, which is expected to generate 100 PS and 240 Nm. This motor is expected to be available with two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The feature list can include a new infotainment system, like the one we saw in Thar. It is, however, unlikely to get a 4WD system.

Kia KY7

There is faint news that has hinted towards Kia’s next offence in India. The car will is likely to be introduced in the MPV segment and will take on the likes of the Toyota Innova, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and others. While there is very little that we know about the car, the upcoming Kia KY MPV is likely to be designed and developed on the Seltos platform, which also underpins the second-generation Hyundai Creta. The car will be offered with 6 and 7-seat configurations. The 6-seater model will feature captain seats for the second row, while the 7-seater will have a bench-type setup. It is likely to come with modular seating options with sliding as well as foldable seats.

Kia has said that the platform can support different body styles and engine options including hybrid, petrol and diesel. In terms of powertrain, the car is most likely to share its engine options with the Seltos. This means you can expect 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. While the former is good for 113 bhp and 144 Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 113 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
