The TUV300 was essentially a sub-four meter SUV while the TUV300 Plus was a four-metre-plus, three-row version of the former. Both these SUVs only saw mediocre sales success and never really caught the fancy of the compact SUV buyer. However, in an attempt to change the fortune of the TUV300 in India, Mahindra will reposition the erstwhile sub-four-meter TUV300 as the new Mahindra Bolero Neo.

Mahindra has been spied testing an updated version of the TUV300 and TUV300 Plus on earlier occasions.

The Bolero is one of Mahindra's most successful products and has been their bread and butter product for the longest time. Repositioning the TUV300 as the Bolero Neo is simply an attempt to cash in on the Bolero’s strong brand equity. Mahindra has been spied testing a new version of the TUV300 multiple times, and now we know it will be the Bolero Neo. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Bolero Neo will come with a sharper looking face with re-profiled headlamps and an updated grille.

2021 Mahindra Bolero Neo Rendering Front 3 Quarter
Based on previously spied test mules, here we have a rendering of how the Mahindra Bolero Neo could look like.

Based on previous spy shots, here we have a rendering of how Mahindra Bolero Neo could look like. Compared to the now-discontinued TUV300, the Bolero Neo will come with a revised front bumper which now gets a sleeker lower air dam and new fog lamp housings. It also features a lot more creases than the plain and boxy bumper of the TUV300. The grille on the Bolero Neo is also different and gets thick chrome slats for the added beefiness. The headlamps have been redesigned and Mahindra could even thrown in some new LED DRL strips for some added bling.

We however do not expect any major change to the side of the SUV, although the squarish wheel arches could be more flared and there will be black cladding all around. From spy shots seen before, we know that the Bolero Neo will also feature redesigned tail lamps and a new bumper at the rear. It will also continue with its tail gate mounted spare wheel. On the inside, the cabin could be updated with a new look for the center console and some cosmetic updates here and there.

Mechanically, the Bolero Neo will likely remain unchanged from the TUV300. That means it will be powered by the 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine, updated to comply with the BS6 emission norms. What really links the TUV300 well with the Bolero is that, unlike other sub-compact SUVs in this segment, the former is underpinned by a traditional ladder-frame chassis. Meanwhile, rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue are based on car-like monocoque chassis. When launched, the Bolero Neo will be sold alongside the standard Bolero and prices are expected to start from around INR 9.5 lakh, ex-showroom. Similar updates will likely also be rolled on to the replacement of the TUV300 Plus, which will perhaps be called the Bolero Neo Plus.

The upcoming SUV also gets flared wheel arches and a Bolero-like thick band that runs along the fender. All spied test mules seen so far were heavily camouflaged, but we expect a reprofiled bumper to be part of the update as well. Mahindra could even thrown in some new LED DRL strips for some added bling. We however do not expect any major change to the side or rear profile of the SUV. On the inside, the interiors could be updated with a new look for the center console and some cosmetic updates here and there.

Mahindra has been working on the Bolero Neo for a long time now and it is expected to launch in the coming months. Similar updates will likely also be rolled on to the replacement of the TUV300 Plus, which will perhaps be called the Bolero Neo Plus.

Mahindra TUV300 Plus Facelift Interiors Completely Revealed In New Spy Sots https://indianautosblog.com/mahindra-tuv300-plus-facelift-interiors-spied-p322186 Thu, 31 Dec 2020 07:30:51 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322186 We know that Mahindra has been testing the TUV 300 Plus facelift for over a year now and we have reported to you with spy images of the same several times. Now, a fresh set of the spy images of the Mahindra TUV300 Plus facelift has surfaced on the internet. These new images give us a look inside the cabin of the TUV300 Plus facelift. Although the exterior is still heavily camouflaged, the interiors have completely been revealed in these images and disappointingly, there are barely any changes.

The Mahindra TUV300 Plus facelift continues with the same dual-tone themed dashboard layout. There's a touchscreen infotainment system taking center stage on the dashboard but it looks identical to the outgoing unit. The software in the system could however receive an update. The HVAC controls look the same as well and the center console continues with the buttons for the power windows. Even the gear lever seems identical to the outgoing version.

Elsewhere, there are brushed silver accents on the dashboard, door panels and even the steering wheel, but that too has been carried over from the outgoing model. The seats come wrapped in dual-tone black and beige upholstery, matching the rest of the interior theme. We expect the equipment list to remain unchanged from the outgoing model as well. The TUV300 Plus, like before, will continue to be offered as a 9-seater SUV, with twin side-facing bench seats behind the second-row bench seat.

The updates on the exterior are a little more evident than on the inside. The TUV300 Plus facelift gets a new grille with black slats and the headlamps look smaller and sleeker than before, although they are still halogen units. The front bumper has been considerably revised with a wider trapezoidal airdam and new sleeker foglamps. In profile, the TUV300 Plus remains largely unchanged but there's a new design for the alloy wheels. At the rear, the wrap around tail lights, rear bumper and  tailgate-mounted spare wheel are look more or less unchanged.

The transmission will likely be the same 6-speed manual unit. The current Mahindra TUV300 Plus' prices stretch from INR 9.93 lakh to INR 11.42 lakh (ex-showroom).  The facelifted model, expected to be launched by March 2021, will cost slightly higher.

The facelifted SUV should be launched by next month. Image gallery at the end of the story updated with new spy shots.

New Mahindra Tuv300 Plus Facelift Spy Shot

19 January 2020 -

The nine-seat version of the Mahindra TUV300, the Mahindra TUV300 Plus, was launched in 2018. Just over a year later, a facelift is being prepared for it. IndianAutosBlog.com reader Deepak Dhiman has spotted a test mule of the upcoming SUV.

The Mahindra TUV300 Plus is aimed at semi-urban buyers and is a slow-seller in the major cities. It is based on the Mahindra TUV300's platform and also shares the majority of its components and body panels with its donor vehicle. Speaking of its facelifted version, it is will feature a revamped front fascia. Just like the test mules spotted in the past, the latest mule is devoid of the production headlamp units, thus hides the possible changes to that part. Speaking of other changes, it features a slightly tweaked front radiator grille which sports a design inspired by that of the Mahindra Alturas G4.

Under the hood, the 2020 Mahindra TUV300 Plus will have the upgraded version of the BS-IV 2.2-litre mHawk that is rated to produce 120 PS of maximum power at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,800 rpm in the outgoing model. The transmission will likely be the same 6-speed manual unit.

On the safety front, the current Mahindra TUV300 Plus offers dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, collapsible steering column, sided intrusion beams, digital immobiliser, driver seat belt reminder, auto door lock while driving, anti-theft steering lock and hazard lights on panic braking. The updated model could be safer with new safety features.

2020 Mahindra TUV300 (facelift) spied again, new details revealed https://indianautosblog.com/2020-mahindra-tuv300-facelift-spied-again-new-details-revealed-p319311 Thu, 02 Jan 2020 13:41:55 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=319311 Along with a number of all-new models like the next-gen Thar, next-gen Scorpio and the next-gen XUV500, Mahindra has several facelifted models in the pipeline. One of the latter is the 2020 Mahindra TUV300, which has been spied once again, revealing new details.

2020 Mahindra Tuv300 Spotted
The 2020 Mahindra TUV300 apparently has a refreshed front-end.

The 2020 Mahindra TUV300 can be clearly seen sporting a tweaked front fascia with the new set of headlamps which appears to be smaller, restyled radiator grille, rectangular fog lamps, remodelled bumper and reshaped lower air intake.

On the sides, the Mahindra TUV300 looks unchanged now. New alloy wheels could be offered, but there's nothing more than that expected. The rear-end also looks no different from that of the outgoing model. No major interior changes are expected. However, with even the Mahindra Thar set to receive cruise control, we reckon the Mahindra Thar too could be in the queue.

If you recall, the Mahindra TUV300 had received a subtle visual makeover in mid-2019, with a host of design tweaks such as piano black front grille with black chrome inserts, revised headlamps with carbon black finish and LED DRLs, a skid plate (front), 15-inch grey 10-spoke alloy wheels, wheel arch cladding, a roof-mounted spoiler and an X-shaped metallic grey spare wheel cover.

The BS-IV Mahindra TUV300 employs the 1.5-litre mHawk100 turbocharged three-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 100 PS of maximum power at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of peak torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm. The BS-VI version will likely have an enhanced version of this engine.

The BS-IV Mahindra TUV300 is priced from INR 8.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The starting price of the costlier, BS-VI version will likely be close to INR 9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). A BS-VI Mahindra TUV300 Plus is also under development.

BS-VI Mahindra TUV300 spied on test https://indianautosblog.com/bs-vi-mahindra-tuv300-spied-test-p318867 Thu, 07 Nov 2019 11:17:39 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=318867 Mahindra is gearing up to launch several new products in the market such as next-gen Thar, next-gen Scorpio and facelifted TUV300 Plus. Recently, the BS-VI TUV300 was spied undergoing road testing.

Bs Vi Mahindra Tuv300 Rear Quarter 1
The Mahindra TUV300 has already received a facelift and it seems like BS-VI upgrade is being worked on now.

While the exteriors of the test mule may be fully camouflaged, it is the same-old boxy looking vehicle underneath. Though the spied images may not provide the clearest view, the relatively unchanged design geometry of the TUV300 isn't hard to figure out. Also, only in May this year it received a subtle visual makeover with its mid-life update. With this update the SUV gained a host of design tweaks such as piano black front grille with black chrome inserts, revised headlamps with carbon black finish and LED DRLs, a skid plate (front), 15-inch grey 10-spoke alloy wheels, wheel arch cladding, a roof-mounted spoiler and an X-shaped metallic grey spare wheel cover.

The motive of this update is to give it a BS-VI unit which will replace the BS-IV 1.5-litre mHawk100 turbocharged three-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 100 PS of maximum power at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of peak torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm. With the BS-VI update, the Mahindra TUV300 is expected to pack some extra comfort, convenience and safety features to keep it at par with the segment rivals.

Bs Vi Mahindra Tuv300 Rear Quarter 3
The BS-IV Mahindra TUV300 retails at INR 8.54-10.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With the BS-VI update, expect the prices to go up by as much as INR 40,000-50,000.

2020 Mahindra Thar hard-top spied with 2020 Mahindra TUV300 Plus https://indianautosblog.com/2020-mahindra-thar-hard-top-spied-2020-mahindra-tuv300-plus-p318270 Mon, 26 Aug 2019 13:09:01 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=318270 Mahindra is developing a number of new products including the next-gen Thar and the new TUV300 Plus. Both the future models were spotted together by IAB reader Vikram Raja in Ooty recently.

Mahindra Next Gen Thar 1
The next-gen Mahindra Thar will feature a more robust ladder-frame chassis.

The Mahindra Thar has slightly grown in size for its second generation, which is evident from the latest spy pictures. It will make use of a stronger body and sit on a more robust ladder-frame chassis, in order to clear the upcoming BNVSAP crash tests norms to be seen in action from 1 October 2019. The same ladder-frame chassis will underpin the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio, which has been spotted on various occasions in the past.

The exterior of the next-gen Mahindra Thar will not be radically different. The design will be evolutionary for the obvious reason. Signature elements such as seven-slot vertical grille, front fender-mounted direction indicators, a broad and flat bonnet, circular halogen headlamps, vertical brick-shaped combination lamps and a side-hinged tailgate with the mounted spare wheel will be carried over from the first-gen model. The taller and wider body will result in a better stance.

The greater changes will be seen on the inside. The all-new model will be a more comfortable and road-oriented vehicle to appeal to a wider band of customers. It will make use of a redesigned, all-black dashboard, a digital-analogue instrument panel with a huge, mid-placed MID, a new, multifunction steering wheel, round AC vents, new AC control dials with silver finishes and a new, repositioned passenger grab-handle. One of the biggest changes will be the use of front-facing seats in the rear.

Under the hood, the 2020 Mahindra Thar will have a newly developed BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine tuned to churn out 140 PS of maximum power and 300 Nm of peak torque. This unit will come mated to a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. A manually-operated 4WD system is expected to be offered as an option.

Mahindra Next Gen Thar 4
The new Mahindra Thar is expected to be launched before the all-new Mahindra Thar.

Coming on to the TUV300 Plus (facelift), it will feature a slightly tweaked front fascia with redesigned front bumper and new headlamps. It will also make use of a new radiator grille inspired by that of the Alturas G4's.
It is likely to employ the BS-VI version of the 2.2-litre mHawk that produces 120 PS at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,800 rpm in the old model. This engine will likely be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. The new model should go on sale by end-2019.

The updated Mahindra TUV300 Plus will employ a BS-VI 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine.

The new Mahindra TUV300 is expected to feature a revamped front fascia. Like the previously spotted test mule, the latest test mule was devoid of the production headlamp units, thus once again hiding the possible changes in that aspect. It features a new radiator grille in a design inspired by that of the Mahindra Alturas G4.

On the inside, the 2020 Mahindra TUV300 Plus is expected to make use of the upgraded form of the BS-IV 2.2-litre mHawk that produces 120 PS at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,800 rpm in the old model. While the engine will be upgraded to BS-VI standards, it will likely be paired with the same 6-speed manual transmission as in the old model.

The current Mahindra TUV300 Plus offers dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, collapsible steering column, sided intrusion beams, digital immobiliser, driver seat belt reminder, auto door lock while driving, anti-theft steering lock and hazard lights on panic braking. The updated model is expected to be safer and will be offered with a longer list of features.

Updated Mahindra TUV300 Plus with BS-VI engine spied https://indianautosblog.com/updated-mahindra-tuv300-plus-bs-vi-engine-spied-p317879 Wed, 17 Jul 2019 07:05:31 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=317879 Mahindra is testing various BS-VI models on the public roads right now, and one of them is the TUV300 Plus. The longer TUV300 is said to get some visual changes with the BS-VI upgrade, but with its launch having taken place just back in May 2018, a mid-cycle refresh so soon seems unlikely.

2019 Mahindra Tuv300 Plus Spied Test 1
The updated Mahindra TUV300 Plus will employ a BS-VI 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine.

The BS-VI TUV300 Plus 7-seater is said to feature a revised front fascia. The test mule seen here isn't equipped with the production headlamp units, thus hiding any possible changes in that aspect. The radiator grille could be restyled, but that, too, is not visible in these spy shots. While at the back, it will come with wraparound tail lights and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

Strangely, Mahindra hasn't rolled out the safety updates mandated by the government recently to the TUV300 Plus. In April, ABS became mandatory, and from the 1st of this month, ABS, driver airbag, front seat belt reminder, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and manual override for central locking system became are required to be standard.

As per the product's latest brochure, the safety features include dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, collapsible steering column, sided intrusion beams, digital immobiliser, seat belt reminder, auto door lock while driving, anti-theft steering lock and hazard lights on panic braking. ABS with EBD and dual-front airbags aren't standard, and there's no mention about the specifics of the seat belt reminder, whether it is for only the driver or for the driver and the first-row passenger. The BS-VI model will be safer and adhere to the latest safety norms.

The BS-VI Mahindra TUV300 Plus is expected to employ an upgraded version of the BS-IV 2.2-litre 2.2-litre mHawk that produces 120 PS at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,800 rpm in the old model. Like in the BS-IV model, a 6-speed manual transmission should be standard.

The Mahindra TUV300 Plus (facelift) is expected to be launched by 2019-end.

Mahindra announces price hike due to upcoming safety norms https://indianautosblog.com/mahindra-announces-price-hike-due-to-upcoming-safety-norms-p317630 Sun, 23 Jun 2019 04:00:10 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=317630 Mahindra has announced that it will increase the price of its passenger vehicles by up to INR 36,000. The hiked prices will come into effect on 1 July 2019.

Mahindra Thar 700 Copy
Mahindra recently launched the Thar Signature Edition at INR 9.99 lakh*. The special edition model is INR 50,000 more expensive compared to the regular model.

Stricter safety norms (AIS 145) will come into effect on 1 July 2019, as a result, all the automakers are forced to introduce the standard safety features such as driver airbag, seat belt reminder for driver and co-driver, rear parking sensors and speed warning system. The company says that the price hike is a direct result of the newly added safety features.

Talking of the same, SUVs such as the Scorpio, Bolero, TUV300 and KUV100 NXT will bear a substantial price hike, while XUV500 and Marazzo's price will only be hiked very marginally because most of the features are already present as standard in these vehicles. E69ss12 Mahindra Tuv300 Facelift 625x300 03 May 19
Compared to the old Mahindra TUV300, the new Mahindra TUV300 comes out as a sportier and tougher model.

Mahindra has given the TUV300 a subtle visual makeover with its mid-life update. The new SUV comes out as a sportier and tougher model, thanks to new features like piano black front grille with black chrome inserts, revised headlamps with carbon black finish and LED DRLs, a skid plate (front), 15-inch grey 10-spoke alloy wheels, wheel arch cladding, a roof-mounted spoiler and an X-shaped metallic grey spare wheel cover.

On the safety front, as in the old model, dual-front airbags, driver seatbelt reminder and ABS with EBD are standard, while rear parking sensors are available only in select grades. Complying with the AIS-145 safety norms requires speed alert system, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder, driver airbag, reverse parking sensors and manual override for central locking system (if present) to be included as standard. The only new safety feature in the new model is a new reverse parking camera.

Inside, the 2019 Mahindra TUV300 has new silver accents and piano-black centre fascia. The ride height has been optimised for better ride comfort and handling. Under the hood, is the 1.5-litre mHawk100 turbocharged three-cylinder diesel engine carried over from the old model. It still produces 100 BHP at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm. Unlike in the old model, a 5-speed automated manual transmission isn't available. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard.

Commenting on the launch of the new model, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said: "We are pleased to launch the Bold New TUV300, the facelift version of the only compact SUV with an authentic SUV design that combines the space & comfort of 7 seats with performance and hi-tech features. The TUV300 has already established itself in the compact SUV segment with 1L satisfied customers. 2019 Mahindra TUV300 exterior & interior detailed in walkaround video https://indianautosblog.com/2019-mahindra-tuv300-video-p317098 Wed, 24 Apr 2019 13:31:21 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=317098 Earlier this month, it was reported that the 2019 Mahindra TUV300 (facelift) has started reaching dealerships. Now, a walkaround video that details the exterior and the interior of the refreshed sub-4-metre SUV has surfaced online.

The 2019 Mahindra TUV300 (facelift) carries a host of subtle visual changes that work together to inject some freshness into the almost 4-year-old design. Moreover, the refreshed model carries additional safety equipment that enables it to conform to the updated regulations. The front-end of the sub-compact SUV features a revised upper grille, a new lower grille and a set of smoked headlamps. The side profile remains exactly untouched, which means even the alloy wheels have been carried over from the outgoing version. The alloy wheels are in a darker shade in the new model, though. At the rear, the only change is the clear lens treatment for the tail lamps.

The interior of the 2019 Mahindra TUV300 (facelift) largely mirrors that of the outgoing version. That said, it now comes with additional safety features, including a high-speed warning alert and co-driver seat belt reminder. The T4+ and T6+ trims have gained parking sensors now. The range includes a new T10 (O) grade.

Under the hood, the updated model has the familiar 1.5-litre mHawk100 turbocharged three-cylinder diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 100 bhp at 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 240 Nm at 1,600-2,800 rpm. It is being said that the Ricordo-sourced 5-speed AMT has been discontinued and the revised model will be available exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The most noticeable visual change can be found at the front, where the facelifted model has a new radiator grille, a new lower grille and smoked headlamps.

2019 Mahindra TUV300 (facelift) exterior and interior leaked https://indianautosblog.com/2019-mahindra-tuv300-facelift-exterior-and-interior-leaked-p317044 Tue, 16 Apr 2019 13:46:33 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=317044 The 2019 Mahindra TUV300 has started reaching dealerships. Spy shots have revealed the exterior and interior of the refreshed model.

2019 Mahindra Tuv300 Facelift Front Spy Shot
The new Mahindra TUV300 features smoked headlamps and clear-lens tail lamps among other changes.

Launched in September 2015, the Mahindra TUV300 is the only modern ladder-frame SUV in its segment, although not the most successful one of the lot. For MY2019, it has received a facelift that brings subtle visual changes.

The front-end of the sub-compact SUV has been tweaked with a new radiator grille, a new lower grille and smoked headlamps. The sides have remained the same, and even the alloy wheels have been carried over from the outgoing model. At the rear, the new model features clear-lens tail lamps, which are in the same shape as those of the old model. The interior design has remained unchanged.

Mahindra will offer the new TUV300 in the existing T4+, T6+, T8 and T10 grades and a new grade, which it will likely call ‘T10 (O)’. It will expand the standard safety pack to include high-speed warning alert and likely co-driver SBR too. Rear parking sensors, not included in the T4+ and T6+ grades of the old model, will be standard in the new model.

Moving to the specifications, the 1.5-litre mHawk100 turbocharged three-cylinder diesel engine will continue in the TUV300 post facelift. This engine produces 100 BHP at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm. Mahindra will discontinue the problematic 5-speed automated manual transmission made by Ricardo. All the configurations will have a 5-speed manual transmission only.

The interior design of the Mahindra TUV300 has remained the same post facelift.

2019 Mahindra TUV300 (facelift) with clear-lens tail lamps spied https://indianautosblog.com/2019-mahindra-tuv300-facelift-clear-lens-tail-lamps-p316586 Thu, 28 Feb 2019 06:18:09 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=316586 The 2019 Mahindra TUV300 has appeared in new spy shots published by Facebook page The Next COG. It’s a facelifted model with various styling and safety enhancements.

2019 Mahindra Tuv300 Facelift Rear Three Quarters
The Mahindra TUV300 will gain various safety upgrades to meet the more stringent norms that will become effective in the second half of the year.

Mahindra had launched the TUV300 in September 2015, and three years later, it is working on a minor model change. The above spy shot shows the updated model with new, clear-lens tail lamps and a new spare wheel cover. The new spare wheel cover hidden with camouflage is the X-shaped piece that was seen on the TUV300 Endurance edition at Auto Expo 2016. The metallic grey alloy wheels are from the current model.

The Mahindra TUV300 already features ABS with EBD, driver Seat Belt Reminder and dual-front airbags as standard. With the MY2019 update, it will gain co-driver Seat Belt Reminder and speed alert system - both as standard. Moreover, rear parking sensors, which are currently excluded in the entry-level T4+ and T6+ grades, will become standard. More importantly, the new model will have a revised body structure to meet the BNVSAP crash test norms.

The 2019 Mahindra TUV300 could come with a BS-VI compliant version of the 1.5-litre mHawk100 three-cylinder diesel engine that produces 100 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm in BS-IV form. However, much depends on the launch timeline. Several automakers are planning to rollout the BS-VI upgrade only closer to the deadline, to avoid their vehicles becoming too pricey against the competition. The transmission choices should remain 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual.

The Mahindra TUV300 is expected to continue with the 1.5-litre mHawk100 diesel engine post facelift.

In this post, we'll take a look at 5 other concept cars, along with 5 exciting motorcycles, that have debuted at the earlier versions of our country's biggest motor show -

DC TCA

DC TCA sportscar Auto Expo 2018

Dilip Chhabria-owned DC Design showcased the TCA sportscar at the Auto Expo 2018. Based on the Avanti, the TCA was earlier scheduled to go on sale in October 2018, but it looks like the launch has been postponed indefinitely as the design house seeks investments to bolster its operations. The TCA is an abbreviation of Titanium, Carbon and Aluminium and is powered by a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated mid-mounted V6 engine that outputs a maximum power of 320 PS. The RWD sportscar is claimed to be capable of sprinting from nought to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.

Chevrolet Adra

Chevrolet Adra Concept Front Right Profile at Auto Expo 2014

The Chevrolet Adra was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014. The butch compact SUV concept was envisioned at the GM Technical Centre in Bangalore. As per the company, the Adra featured the company's modern design language while meeting local market requirements. The Adra previewed a compact SUV for the 'next-generation' of Indian buyers as it offered typical SUV traits, like that of high ground clearance, good all-around visibility,  a high seating position for the driver, and a spacious cabin, in a compact package with an overall length of a shade under 4 metres. The production-spec version was expected to launch in 2017, but Chevrolet India folded much before the new model could see the light of day.

DC Ambirod

Dc Ambirod Side Profile Image

DC Design is well-known for its wild, sometimes even obnoxious, concept cars. Back at the Auto Expo 2008, it came up with the Ambirod, a somewhat bulbous concept that took inspiration from the Hindustan Ambassador. Powering the DC Ambirod is a V12 engine whose specifications never came out of the wraps. The cabin, which looks reasonably upmarket owing to the light colour theme and tasteful ambient lighting, offers a seating capacity of just 3 occupants. Another highlight of the concept is its gullwing doors.

Mahindra Halo

Mahindra HALO front fascia at Auto Expo 2014

The Mahindra Halo sportscar concept was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014. Developed by Mahindra Reva, the futuristic all-electric model has a top speed of 160 km/h. The entry-level variant has a driving range between 100-150 km, while the top-end model can be used for 200 km on a single charge. As per the company, both the versions can print from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds. Furthermore, usage of the 'boost' mode claims to lower the o-100 km/h time by a second. The interior is all about multiple touchscreen interfaces and highly ergonomic contoured seats.

Mahindra TUV Stinger

Mahindra TUV Stinger concept front three quarters left side at Auto Expo 2018

Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018, the Mahindra TUV Stinger is the country's first-ever convertible SUV. Based on the production-spec Mahindra TUV300, the soft-top model features sleek headlamps with LED lighting, C-shaped LED fog lights, gloss black and flared wheel arches. The highlight of the interior is a virtual instrument cluster that replaces the conventional twin-pod analogue unit on the regular TUV300. Other highlights include a sporty two-spoke steering wheel with flattened top and bottom and a touchscreen interface for drive mode selection. The Stinger is powered by a mHawk motor that outputs 140 bhp and 320 Nm.

UM Renegade Thor

UM Renegade Thor front at 2018 Auto Expo

Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018, the UM Renegade Thor is the world's first geared electric cruiser motorcycle. It has a typical cruiser-style body format, with the major highlights including a muscular tank, chunky 41 mm telescopic front forks, and a 150-section rear tire. Powering the Thor is a liquid-cooled electric motor that offers a maximum power of 40.7 PS and a peak torque of 70 Nm.   A 5-speed transmission with a hydraulic clutch drives the rear wheel through a belt drive setup. The all-electric motorcycle is available in three high-power lithium polymer battery options - 27 kWh (range - 270 km), 15 kWh (range - 149 km), and 7.5kWh (range - 81 km). A fast charger can replenish the battery pack to 80% of its peak capacity in 40 minutes.

TVS Creon

The TVS Creon is a performance-focused electric scooter that made its debut at the Auto Expo 2018. As per the company, the snazzy two-wheeler has been designed "keeping in mind the global dream for a green future and uncompromising performance." The Creon offers smart connected technologies that have been developed in collaboration with Intel. It gets its juice from 3 Lithium-ion batteries that provide a maximum power of 16 hp. The all-electric scooter, which is built around a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame, can sprint from 0-60 km/h in 5.1 seconds and has a range of 80 km. A fast charger can replenish the battery pack to 80% of its peak capacity in 60 minutes.

TVS Zeppelin

The TVS Zeppelin concept shared the floor space with the Creon at the Auto Expo 2018. The handsome naked motorcycle features metal bodywork and several brushed-metal accents. Powering the bike is a 220cc single-cylinder engine that comes mated to a patented Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The latter offers an e-boost option, which enables faster starting of the motorcycle by providing it with an augmented boost. As per the company, the Zeppelin offers segment-leading fuel efficiency. The performance is further enhanced through a 1200W regenerative assist motor with 48V Li-ION battery.

Emflux One

The top-end version, which will feature an Ohlins suspension, forged alloy wheels and ultralight carbon fibre panels, could be priced at INR 11 lakh (on road). Powering the motorcycle is a three-phase AC induction motor with liquid cooling that draws its juice from a 9.7 kWh battery pack. It outputs a maximum power of 71 hp and a peak torque of 84 Nm. The motor comes mated to a direct drive transmission. The motorcycle is claimed to be capable of hitting 100 km/h in just 3,0 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h.

The Hero XF3R, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, is expected to spawn a production-spec model in 2020. Powering the production-spec Hero XF3R is a single cylinder 300cc motor whose power outputs are yet to be revealed. As per the manufacturer, the “balance and form” of the XF3R concept will be reflected in its future naked models. The production version of the X3FR will target the likes of KTM 390 Duke, Benelli TNT 300, and BMW G 310 R.
